Do I need to wash the parts first?
No. These are not injection molded—no detergent wash needed off the mold release agent. They’re PLA prints and are ready for primer.
What glue should I use?
CA (cyanoacrylate / super glue) for fast bonds. If you have it, thick viscosity works best.
What about priming?
A filler primer is recommended, it can fill in the rough texture left by the 3d printing process without obscuring any details. Save your expensive hobby primer for your minis.
Many terrain pieces are very large. So we also recommend using spray paint to block in the main color of your terrain set.
Quick-Start Painting Guide
Assembly & Modifications
- Dry fit, then glue with CA glue (superglue).
- Make any modifications/magnets now, before paint.
Priming: Filler then Color
- Light coat of filler-primer → optional light sand (400–600) → light second pass.
- Add color spray for your main tone(s) to save time on large surfaces.
Base Colors (Midtones)
- Brush or airbrush the remaining colors.
- Aim for chromatic accuracy (reds/blues/greens) before shadows/highlights.
Shadows (Washes)
- Acrylic or oil wash (1–2 tones).
- Wipe back raised areas to keep highlights clean.
Highlights
- Drybrush or edge highlight lighter tones on edges/texture.
Finishing Touches
- Static grass, pigments, vines, snow, OSL glow, basing bits to match your army.
High-Heat Warning
High-Heat Warning (PLA Thermoplastic)
Avoid full sun and hot cars/attics. Heat can soften parts and cause warping.
Troubleshooting & Care
Minor Warp Fix
Quickly dunk in boiling water to soften (about 2-4 seconds), bend flat, and hold until cool. (Use caution—don’t overheat.)
Surface Smoothing
Filler-primer → light sand → second light coat.
Painting Compatibility
All Hobby acrylics and oils work. A small amount of solvent will not harm the plastic. (Long exposure to harsh paint thinners will degrade the plastic)
